In a market that is so competitive, if you deliver a successful mobile project, it could be highly profitable for your organization.
The challenge here is creating a mobile project that can be used in the long run with a high level of optimization. Also, any mobile project requires a higher level of continued support effort. This effort is needed to stay current with new versions of mobile operating systems. This specific requirement is the reason why 26% of all mobile application projects are delivered late and around 5% of them fail.
To avoid your project from being unsuccessful, you must have a strong evaluation strategy.
The following are the ways through which you can efficiently evaluate your mobile projects:
1. Conduct Operational Assessment
Making a mobile project successful is challenging and complicated. Many companies fail at delivering a successful mobile project because they are not ready for such projects i.e they have not made the necessary changes required to implement such projects. Hence, companies must conduct an operational assessment to check whether they are equipped and ready to start the mobile project. Run checks on whether your organization has the appropriate infrastructure, provisions for data management and content management, team skills and other resources. Also consider legal and security issues.
2. Check Capability of Platform
Companies must evaluate whether their current in-use application platform can be extended to the mobile work force. Find out what substantial add-ons or amount of re-engineering is required. Also, check whether the existing platform is adequate enough to fulfil the mobile project’s needs or a third party extension is required.
3. Prepare a Version Control
The life span of mobile projects is calculated in years. During this period, they undergo multiple changes. Sometimes it happens that many large organizations have hundreds of on-going mobile projects. To manage this complexity, a source code version control tool is required. This tool must seamlessly integrate with the company’s mobile projects and toolchain.
4. Develop Additional Models
Traditional ROI calculations may not be the best way to evaluate mobile app or infrastructure projects or initiatives. Thus, CIOs and end point computing leaders must refocus their efforts on developing alternative approaches to ensure proper evaluation.
5. Establish Support
The majority of companies looking at mobile deployments do not foresee the need to have a mobile management and support team and/or SLA. Support and management must be included in any mobile strategy as we have seen a number of mobile projects failing due to lack of end-user support.
Mobile projects are a lot more than just the mobile app. That is why, while planning to initiate a mobile project you must following the above tips and make it successful. To read some other interesting blogs written by us, do visit our page.
