The endpoints include the devices, quality meters, or sensors that measure or check for physical parameters around us. An\u00a0endpoint\u00a0can be as simple as an LED light bulb or as complicated as\u00a0an autonomous\u00a0vehicle controller. The main features that\u00a0need\u00a0to be considered while testing these endpoints are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Specifications of devices or sensors<\/li>\n<li>Tests with actual devices<\/li>\n<li>The device contracts or software APIs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>2.\u00a0\u00a0 Creating tests for APIs and communication layers<\/h1>\n<p>As mentioned earlier,\u00a0an\u00a0IoT\u00a0network requires the central hub to interact with a lot of devices that work across different frameworks and protocols. The server needs to coordinate the data received from every device and relay appropriate messages to them, instructing them to carry out a particular task. The devices also have to sync themselves with the server to detect the messages and commands for them and ignore the ones meant for other devices. The testing takes into consideration many factors at both the ends, of the server and the device, to ensure optimal use of computational power and energy for\u00a0an efficient\u00a0network.<\/p>\n<h1>3.\u00a0\u00a0 Creating tests for simulation scenarios<\/h1>\n<p>This step involves blending the information and the operation technology to study how the proposed\u00a0IoT\u00a0application would run in real time.\u00a0The software\u00a0is available for both smaller and larger applications. Tools like\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/iotify.io\/\">IoTify\u00a0<\/a><\/u>help teams build the replica of the proposed network virtually to assess its working. This type of testing also includes the replication of the back-end of the\u00a0IoT\u00a0server to check if it can handle the load of the entire network without breaking down.<\/p>\n<h1>4.\u00a0\u00a0 Creating tests for the validation of collected data<\/h1>\n<p>Once implemented, the\u00a0IoT\u00a0network generates a lot of data. These tests\u00a0ensure\u00a0that the data accumulated on the network doesn&#8217;t strain the back end. While back-end systems vary from company to company, depending on their framework, mainframe, client-server or cloud-based technology, variations in storage, etc., the testing\u00a0done\u00a0here checks:<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>For the proper subscription of the back-end systems on the appropriate data channel<\/li>\n<li>For the back-end system&#8217;s authorization and entitlement to collect the data<\/li>\n<li>If the back-end systems receive the data as per the norms<\/li>\n<li>If the back-end systems accurately manipulate the data and inform the hub of the same<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>The framework is more of a guideline for development teams wishing to implement IoT solutions in their organizations accurately.
