CIOs are directing application leaders and architects<\/a> to incorporate external context in applications. Since most organizations are still not sufficiently aware or empowered to use it, IT leaders must make it their priority to provide the right guidance and encouragement.<\/p>\n

Incorporate external context in an application by employing DIP sequence<\/h1>\n

To prepare context data, the software involved employs some or all of the DIP (Digital Intelligence Pipeline) sequence typically in iterations. The previous context data is included in the analysis, as new data is examined. Performing the steps of DIP not only requires significant and varied expertise but is also difficult and expensive. Rather than dealing with the raw data sources directly, organizations prefer buying prepared context data. Sometimes to improve the decision outcomes for a competitive edge, a single context data broker is all that is required. Many financial applications limit their automated context intake to D&B or Equifax for prepared scores of companies or people.<\/p>\n

Incorporate external context in an application by following the core principles of SOA<\/h1>\n

In addition to internal transactional data, applications used for digital business and IoT solutions<\/a> also incorporate private big data sources. Additionally, they take note of external context data published by the government. More the context taken into consideration, more intelligent the solution is. However, that\u2019s a huge amount of data to process inside an application code. This is why the application code should not analyze and integrate all the data sources while making a business decision. Specialized responsibilities are delegated and encapsulated behind a documented interface following the core principles of SOA. Typically, the specialized reactive context data service is contacted by the decision maker, who then retrieves the prepared context data and incorporates it into the decision logic formula.<\/p>\n

Incorporate external context in an application by creating internal context services<\/h1>\n

This service operates in reverse in the event-driven architecture. Context data is examined by the active context data service<\/a>. Once a certain pattern is detected; context data service posts an event and triggers a decision and a consequent action. To manage different data sources and implement different algorithms, multiple internal context services may be created. These are then combined into composite context services and exposed to the applications. Following the same SOA model, external analytics services and algorithm marketplaces may also be engaged.<\/p>\n

External context will help companies design multiple business processes for different contexts (like different times of the year or locations). This they can do with high scalability, significantly fewer maintenance efforts, and very low level of redundancy.
