Is interoperability part of your go-to-market strategy? While the health industry is paving the way for complete interoperability, other markets cannot lag far behind.<\/em><\/p>\n

Imagine that your general physician has instant access to your blood tests and other health diagnostic tests. That she is able to view and use all the data you generate on various fitness and health devices such as step trackers and heart rate trackers. That using this data, she is able to analyze changes to your health parameters and identify emerging risk patterns.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now imagine that you can carry this data to your psychiatrist, your cardiologist, your neurologist or your hospital without having to carry copies of anything with you but simply by giving them access to your health data. If you have to be hospitalized, imagine insurance being taken care of while you recover in peace.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All of this becomes a reality, irrespective of whether your doctors work in the same hospital or clinic or whether the insurance company has a tie up with your healthcare center, with interoperability<\/strong>. Very soon, customers will expect this kind of experience and organizations will have to cater to this by readying their IT systems today.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In ONC\u2019s 10-year health IT vision concept paper<\/a> for the US, it addresses the need for the creation of a roadmap to achieve a truly connected health and care ecosystem. While the US government is only talking about interoperable systems for health, every <\/em>business that wants to stay competitive and relevant in the future must start creating the foundation for interoperability.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The health industry is leading this transition from independent organizational IT system silos to interoperability, followed by manufacturing, retail and e-commerce industries. The next few years will be interesting to monitor to find out which industry space makes the most out of interoperability related digital opportunities.<\/p>\n
