Pervasive computing is all about putting the user, rather than a particular computing device, in the center of all computing activities. It is about the concept of "anytime, anywhere computing" optimized by means of intelligent environments and context-sensitivity.

Essentially, all this boils down to a need for an infrastructure enriched with computing, sensing and communication capabilities and with a very high level of collaboration between all the infrastructure components, all aimed at enhancing the productivity of the end user and providing a optimal user experience.

While implementation of truly pervasive IT systems has some way to go, building pervasive characteristics through technology integration in enterprise IT infrastructure can add lot of value to enterprises even today.

Enterprise mobility, wireless technologies, smart spaces (sensing technologies) and the software that binds all of them are key constituents of the Pervasive Infrastructure. Our focus therefore has been on setting up applied-research initiatives, prototyping solutions and demonstrating capabilities in all these areas.
