Self -Motivation

There are times when it gets hard to be motivated when we don’t feel like trying. These are the times, which shows if we are self confident enough to stay the course. For self-confidence, we need self-motivation. In this world of tough competition, stress and hectic life style, one requires a driving force to get going. A well-accepted explanation of human behavior is that people have needs and motives propelling them toward achieving certain goals. The central idea behind this is that unsatisfied needs motivate us until they become satisfied. After satisfaction of one need, the person usually pursues satisfaction of another, higher need. Work and personal life offer the opportunity to satisfy many different needs and motives. Among the more important needs and motives are achievement, power, affiliation, recognition, and order.

Self-motivation is one of the most important factors in our life. If we are looking for success in any area of our life, we need self-motivation. Self-motivation plays an important role in enhancing our self-esteem. It cultivates a desire to do something in life. Experts in the past have believed and even proved that when self-motivation is combined with self-determination, one can easily move mountains and find water in deserts. Thus, how one can get self-motivated? Self-motivation and a positive attitude are almost intertwined, as positive attitude is a prerequisite to self-motivation. Therefore, if one wants to stay motivated at all times, he/she should adopt a positive mental attitude. However, attaining a positive outlook is not easy. It requires us to be in a state of general happiness, which can be achieved only if we are at peace with ourselves. It is important to realize that happiness is relative in nature, and that while some find it in work, achievement and success, others find it in love, relationships, family ties, affectionate friendships, and in faith. However, all of the above points does not mean that we should lead ourselves to total contentment and complacency. It is necessary that we dissociate our happiness from the daily efforts that we need to make our life better. By all means, we should set material objectives for ourselves and do everything in our scope to make them possible– but we should not allow the success of these efforts to rule our overall attitude and well-being.
